Main Tasks and Functions of Customs Authorities The main tasks of customs authorities are as follows: • Protection of the rights, freedoms, and legally protected interests of individuals and legal entities; • Protection of economic interests and ensuring the economic security of the Republic of Uzbekistan within their competence; • Customs control and clearance; • Collection of customs duties; • Monitoring compliance with customs legislation, preventing, detecting, and suppressing violations of the law, including smuggling; • Monitoring foreign trade operations, analyzing the execution of export and import contracts, as well as ensuring compliance with foreign exchange laws during foreign trade operations related to customs authorities; • Maintaining customs statistics on foreign trade of goods and the commodity nomenclature of foreign economic activity; • Raising legal awareness of citizens in the field of customs; • Regular monitoring of the effectiveness of the risk management system; • Applying modern information and communication technologies and technical means in customs authorities' activities; • Developing priority areas for the development and improvement of customs affairs; • Ensuring the fulfillment of obligations arising from international agreements of the Republic of Uzbekistan concerning customs affairs.
